Great War Triptych for chorus and string quartet, setting poems written during World War I, will be performed by the Lexington Pops Chorus on January 14th and 15th. The first two movements were previously performed at the Walden School's Creative Musicians Retreat. I've discovered a wonderful poet, Connie K. Walle. Her book, What's Left, is full of touching, heartfelt poems. I've set one of these for solo soprano and piano in honor of my wife's sixty-fifth birthday. It's called Write Me a Love Poem. Click here for an audio recording of the song, and here to see the score. Also for my wife's birthday, I arranged Sonnet for a Major Birthday for solo voice and piano.
